Clearing the first screen requires destroying smaller and larger groups of soldiers. Lastly, they construct military bases to prepare for any imminent attacks- which they need to do frequently due to the extreme difficulty of breaking through the defenses.

Players must also defend their territory by building canals and strongholds around their expanding populations. Additional military powers must be defeated as well, including those from the Congo, Mauritania and Nepal. Players must face off against the barbarian, the armies of Carthage, Gallium, Italy and the Iberian Peninsula.
You always have to work hard in any location or on any side. So, it's impossible to grow bored of the game once you start playing - no matter where or when you choose to play. The game combines traditional tower defense gameplay with a strategic role-playing style.
